Under the umbrella of Art by Jess is the shop, None of My Business. Jessie is known for her adorable illustrations, especially those of animals, which is why I was so pleased to come across this business shop of hers. Her unique illustrative style adds whimsy to her business products, making them perfect for a "mommy" card, a child-based business or any retail store.
This first example is a letterhead, sticker and business card from her Ducky Duck in Tub series. Her illustration style fits the type of business perfectly. The adorable duck in the tub is done with soft colors that fits well with a daycare or child-oriented business.
A playful illustration of a steaming cup of tea on this Coffee Bakery Shoppe business card evokes warmth emphasized by the warm golden background color. The Sketchley font of the business name and contact information has a similar hand-drawn feel to the tea cup image, adding to the casual feel of the product.
The dog on this Puppy Dog Training Class Petsitting Pet Sitter Business Card is so adorable that you can just hear him panting for attention. Jess has let the engaging pup take center stage drawing the customer to take an extended look at the card, which is what having a business card is all about.
This is a perfect image and business card for a muralist! This Fairy Castle Purple Dot Business Card exudes everything a child might want painted in their room. The colors, especially the purple polka-dot background fit well with the theme.
Imagine walking into a bakery that has the wonderful warm smell of gingerbread and other homemade goodies. This Gingerbread House Bakery Cookie Business Card makes that easy. It's inviting, warm and festive.
Jess has captured the feel of childhood with this Cute Baby Sitter or Daycare Business Card. The stick figure colored in roughly as if with a crayon reflects the business type immediately and effectively.
This business card just looks good enough to eat! The brown and pink colors are trendy with the polka dotted background adding a bit of whimsy.
Frog Froggy Business Card features a playful frog to represent a play group. However, this could be easily adapted for a child's playplace, daycare or a variety of retail establishments.
The theme of this Trendy Western Cowgirl Mommy Calling Card is such fun for a mom of "cowgirls" (or "cowboys). The main typeface is totally appropriate for the theme and the illustrations are befitting and serve as accents to the text. The pink ornament above is appropriately decorative.
This Pink French Poodle Mommy Calling Card is ideal for a mom of girls. The happy french poodle prances proudly across the pink background. I love how the white polka dots pick up the curls in the poodles fur. Totally girly and adorable.
If you're looking for adorable illustrations for your business or just a personal profile card to make people smile, check out None of My Business.

Spotlight on The Spotted Olive
The first thing that went through my mind when I decided that the next Business Design Spotlight would center on The Spotted Olive is "where to begin?" Not only is there a huge selection of products, but it was going to be tough to pick just a handful. The designs are so well executed with great attention to detail and typography, that I want to make sure to do the products justice.
These two pieces from the Zen Chic Massage Therapist line are a business card and a gift certificate. The rendering of the red branch is clean and graphic, radiating a peaceful, Zen impression. The red color is important, of course, as it is considered a lucky color in the Asian culture.
A frequent buyer card and a rack card are just two from the Spotted Olive's Elegant Orchid Business series. This is a versatile image that stands out against the rich black and cream. It could be used for a variety of businesses, especially ones in the personal care industry. The magenta and cream colors are picked up from the image to make the pieces cohesive.
The manipulation of the microphone colors and the background imagery on this Microphone Music Studio Business Card has a rough, antiqued quality. It gives the card much more depth and character than if the microphone was placed as is on a solid color background. (On a side note, even though it is only placeholder text, "Spinal Tap" fans will recognize "St. Hubbins" for the recording studio's name. Love it. :)
A damask pattern is prominent and also used as a watermark on this Chic Modern Damask Stylish Business Card. The brown, beige and light blue palette is contemporary and chic, as is the juxtaposition of the sans serif and cursive typefaces for the business name.
The gold damask pattern on this Real Estate Business Card: Luxurious Style gives the card a high-end quality, making it a wonderful choice for a luxury realtor. The damask pattern is soft and is reminiscent of drapes and fine furnishings, with the gold double rule adding an engraved feel.
This Funky Fresh Business Card is a beautiful card that is quite versatile. The color palette is trendy with a simple, modern type treatment and a rosette logo.
The overlapping transparent panels on this Hip Business Card :: Trendy Ultra Mod positively glow making it a simple and effective image for a green company.
Personally, I prefer graphic design that is simple and clean with keen attention to typography. This Trendy Bird Boutique Business Card fits the bill (no pun intended). The simple blue bird above the text offsets a large amount of contact information, but it doesn't feel crowded and balances well.
Block graphics make this Modern Style Designer Business Card a fantastic choice for a home furnishing business. The colors are borrowed from interior design and the blocks suggest interior structures.
A postcard and business card from The Spotted Olive's Designer Elegance-Ginger series has a high-end look. The panel containing the business name is placed over the subtly-patterned background giving a hand-crafted, layered look to the design. A paper goods business is an ideal industry in which to use these pieces, but other industries such as home furnishings or an accessory manufacturer would be a good fit as well.
This Cute Hello Badge with Stripes Business Card stands out as a reinvention of the usual "Hello, my name is" card. The type treatment, colors and frame appeal to a more fashionable business sense. It would also be a fun personal profile card.
This Lush Gift Certificate (Sky Blue) gift certificate is a versatile adaptation of an invitation-size card. The patterned blue and dark brown leafy background adds a feminine touch to fit any sort of retail shop or personal-care business.
Make sure to visit The Spotted Olive for a wonderful array of professionally designed business solutions and other unique paper goods and gifts.

The World of Lee Lee and the Bee
Lee Lee and the Bee is a shop that is an absolute unique place. Lee is a talented illustrator and some of her designs will make you wonder just where she came up with the idea of Zombies on Segways or pandas jumping rope. Whatever it may be, her illustrations are fun and make you see the world in a different light. They make perfect sense for companies who like to stand out from the crowd but then others fit perfectly well for any average business. Her business products aren't limited to any particular industry, but are only limited by the customer's imagination.
The steampunk style is popular and Lee does a wonderful job capturing it on this Steampunk Prince business card. From the illustration to the subtle frame and wrinkled paper background, this makes a unique personal profile card as well as an unexpected card for an independent business owner.
This Ro-Cocoa design calls to mind an elegant coffee shop or cafe. The chocolate brown and blue are a serene color combination. The image of the drink with the whipped cream looks yummy.
A chicken wearing sunglasses adorns this business card. What else can be said? An ultimate fun profile card.
One of my favorite illustrations. A rack card featuring Zombies on Segways. Only from Lee Lee and the Bee.
This business card features a gorgeous rendering of the bow of a boat. The colors are rich with an intense depth. Again, a card that at first glance can be put to use by a boating company, but in thinking outside the box, a restaurant or seaside-based business would also be fitting.
An excellent business card for a green grocer, farmer, nutritionist, etc. The fruit and vegetables are rendered in saturated tones to stand out against the bright white background. I like the casual font used as it ties into the organic feel.
This Airships business card could be an ideal fit for an engineer or marketing specialist. The figure gazes upon the airships and seems deep in thought or in a brainstorming moment.
Not only can Lee produce "far-out" illustrations and designs, but she does understated as well. Here is an all-purpose business card card that is simple and effective with a soft, pleasing color palette.
How unique would this business card of Sir Cat be for any service focusing on cats or a groomer? Or perhaps a consultant? There is no limit to how this card could be used.
A serene ocean scene, this "Lookout business card" would be a brilliant identity for a boardwalk business. The cursive font fits well with the seaside theme.
A Nouveau Chic rack card uses an illustration of a woman reminiscent of stained glass. The art-deco style typeface makes this appropriate for advertising especially for businesses such as an artisan studio, antique shop, apparel or beauty-based business.

The Business Designs of J32Teez
This week we have chosen to feature J32 Design. What seems to be a dominant style in his store is the clean quality of the business designs. Typography is carefully placed and the designs have an obvious attention to negative space. There is a wide variety of products for many business types, ranging from very corporate to more whimsical products.
This coffee shop business card is a refreshing change from coffee-colored palettes and close up photographs of coffee beans. This has a clean look to it and there is no unnecessary fussiness about it. Ideal for a coffee business that is serious about their coffee.
The logo for this real estate business card and letterhead has a clean simplicity to it and conveys the business niche immediately. It's a nice touch how the contact information and website all fit together to make the home structure.
Textural images are sometimes used out of context, however the texture of a metal grate perfectly fits into the business type. The typeface is bold but has a weathered feel, as if it were, in fact, under construction itself.
This card projects a taxi service immediately due to the bright yellow color and the checkerboard pattern. The front of the card displays only the relevant information that a customer would need, making it legible and attention-getting.
This corporate business card has a unique look in that the artwork was manipulated to suggest a three-dimensional effect. It appears that the beige panel is actually inserted into a flap in the card, tying in well with the block structure of the logo.
The shading on this American flag-style business card is spot-on. The beige background gives it an aged feel and I prefer it over a traditional white background which might appear too stark and overwhelm the information.
In combining a wine-colored background, the Huxley Vertical typeface and the image, the ambiance of an upscale cocktail bar feel is instantly conveyed.
This is a two-color letterhead that utilizes a graphic image of a home to represent the real estate business. It has a corporate feel but the yellow color gives it a bit of panache.
A clever illustration dominates this business card for construction companies. The city and crane resting on the top of the hammer implies a large, urban commercial construction company. The construction warning pattern is a genius touch.
This skinny business card uses an easily adaptable, effective logo emphasized by its own black panel to contrast the blue around it. The size of the card is convenient and simple to use.
With the increase in "green" awareness and companies striving to be more environmentally aware, this business card targets companies whose industry is solar power. The frame around the solar panel implies the edge of a leaf without being overt and the green of the background helps to play up the environmental slant of the business.
This is just a sampling of the wonderful business products available at J32 Design. To see the complete set plus much more, make sure you check out the shop soon.
